The Keret Association came into being in 2004, summing up different viewpoints into a single framework. The association is based in Győr, a town of about 130.000 inhabitants, proving that civic initiatives can be given a platform anywhere today. Primary activities involve framing attitudes about environmentalism, nature, health and development of urban environment.

We are setting up projects that include pedagogic, artistic and engineering elements, in order to achieve our objectives. We strive to gather intellectual capital and knowledge within the organization, so that Keret Association can establish possibilities to realize enduring programs.

For our objectives we think it is essential to participate in Hungarian and EU proposal writing, to build partnerships locally and internationally, as well as to learn about the needs and possibilities of the region. The framework of the association consists in different project processes, to be set up in cooperation with partner organizations.

The Keret Association joined the preparation of the first-stage proposal writing for Cultural Capital of Europe for our town, Győr, by presenting ideas and concrete plans. We intend to contribute to the program of Pécs, the 2010 Cultural Capital of Europe in Hungary.

We have participated in numerous youth programs and trainings since our establishment, which helped in developing our project ideas and finding suitable partnerships.

During the Mediawave Film and Cultural Festival in 2005 we have covered the downtown baroque Széchenyi square with turf, and organized an interactive town history and fröccs contest (a Hungarian beverage made of wine and soda),  ?Fröccsen!?.

Our association has prepared a successful EU Youth tender dossier in 2005, for an international youth exchange project,  Re-cyclers. In August we filmed, toured and took photos of the region with Austrian and Hungarian youngsters for 8 days.

The first major project of 2006 was the bicycle procession on Earth Day, ?Bringapolisz?, with the goal to make urban cycling more popular as a means of alternative transportation, and make people aware of the importance of environmental awareness. The almost 1000 participating cyclists set an example by the almost 3-hour-ride through the city.

On ?Skicc?, our semi-annual workshop, we develop our ideas for the term and try to involve those interested in civic activities.

Our association is open, expecting new programs, ideas, suggestions and members in accordance with our objectives.
